Wanted: Conservative Candidates

Wanted fiscally responsible, principled conservative candidates needed for Water District, School Board, and City Council in upcoming local elections. Last day to file as a candidate is March 14.

These candidates should be willing to run for the Franklin County Water District, Mount Vernon City Council, and Mount Vernon Independent School District Board. In these trying economic times we need fiscally responsible, principled conservative leaders serving at all levels of government.

Local officials are responsible for: establishing budgets, setting policy, setting local property tax rates and
drafting regulations and local ordinances

The decisions of these local officials, affect our lives each and every day. In Texas, these local offices are non-partisan positions. This may account for so few voters participating in these elections. Even without a party label, each candidate running for these positions has a political philosophy that will guide their decisions once elected.

These local officials are the farm team for higher, partisan offices. A number members of Congress, and the State Legislature entered public service as a City Council, School or Water Board member.

The election for these offices is on May 14.
